$500,000-Winning Lottery Ticket Purchased in Dubuque

Lucky Ticket Wins Big in Powerball Double Play Drawing

CLIVE, Iowa — Someone who bought a Powerball® ticket with the Double Play® option won a $500,000 prize on Monday.

The winning ticket was purchased at Kwik Star, 1180 Kerper Court in Dubuque.

For an extra $1 per play, players can add the Double Play option to their Powerball tickets. The numbers on that ticket are then entered into both the regular Powerball drawing and a separate Double Play drawing held the same night. It is possible to win prizes in both drawings.

The Dubuque ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Double Play Powerball in Monday's Double Play drawing to win a $500,000 prize. It was the only ticket nationwide to win a $500,000 Double Play prize Monday night.

Double Play has the same odds of winning as Powerball, but while Powerball has a rolling jackpot, Double Play offers a top prize of $10 million. There are nine prize levels in each drawing, ranging from matching the Powerball alone to matching all six winning numbers.

Monday's winning Double Play numbers were: 2-7-35-44-57 and Double Play Powerball 25.

Kwik Star will receive a $500 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $500,000-winning ticket.

Prizes of $500,000 must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. The lottery's offices are open Monday through Friday, and appointments are strongly encouraged for those claims. To make an appointment or contact the lottery with questions, winners are welcome to call the lottery at 515-725-7900 or email wmaster@ialottery.com

Powerball Double Play prizes won in Iowa must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing in which they were won.
