Mega Millions Ticket Purchased in Waterloo Wins $2 Million Prize

CLIVE, Iowa — A Mega Millions® ticket purchased at a Waterloo retailer won a $2 million prize on Friday.

The winning ticket was purchased at Walmart, 1334 Flammang Drive in Waterloo, and matched the first five numbers in Friday's drawing to win the $2 million prize. It was just one number away from claiming last night's $368 million jackpot, missing only the Mega Ball.

Friday's winning numbers were 13-30-50-52-66 and Mega Ball 2. The Waterloo ticket was the only one in the country to win at the Match-5 level on Friday.

Players in the $5 Mega Millions game choose their first five numbers from a pool of 70, and another number — called the Mega Ball — from a separate pool of 24. The game features a built-in multiplier for each play that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times.

Walmart will receive a $2,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $2 million-winning ticket.

Prizes of this size must be claimed at the Iowa Lottery's main office in Clive. The lottery's offices are open Monday through Friday, and appointments are strongly encouraged. To make an appointment or contact the lottery with questions, winners are welcome to call the lottery at 515-725-7900 or email wmaster@ialottery.com.

Mega Millions prizes won in Iowa must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. The lottery reminds players to check their tickets carefully. A big win could be waiting!
