CLIVE, Iowa - A PAC-MAN super fan from Newton said she was stunned to learn she'd won the grand prize in the Iowa Lottery's "PAC-MAN Second Chance" promotion.
"I was just flabbergasted, I was blown away!" Kelly Mowery said.
Her prize package includes $25,000 and a PAC-MAN standing arcade game with accessories. She claimed her prize, valued at $39,180.05, on Wednesday at the lottery's main office in Clive.
Mowery won the promotion by entering a nonwinning PAC-MAN scratch ticket through the Iowa Lottery VIP Club. She purchased her ticket at Casey's, 1018 First Ave. E. in Newton.
"I've been a PAC-MAN fan my whole life!" Mowery said. "The local mall had an arcade place there, and the number one game that I always went to was PAC-MAN!"
While she is thrilled to win $25,000, Mowery admitted she is even more excited for the arcade game to arrive.
"We have a roll-away desk, and I'm like, ‘We can move that. That's out of there!' We're putting the arcade right in the living room," she said.
Mowery, who is 52 and works as a nurse, said she is still deciding what to do with the cash portion of her prize.
Ten other people won prizes of $15,000 in the promotion, which received more than 100,000 entries. Those winners include:
- Devin Gallentine of Fort Dodge
- Bruce Gienau of Waterloo

- Ramona Mitchell of Le Mars
- Patrick Morgan of Silver City
