Burlington Man Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize

Rickey Martin Claims Top Prize On SCRABBLE™ Crossword Scratch Game

CLIVE, Iowa — A Burlington man has won a $100,000 Iowa Lottery prize.

Rickey Martin bought his “SCRABBLE™ Crossword” scratch ticket at Jet Stop, 901 South St. in Burlington, and claimed his prize Friday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Martin is the seventh Iowa Lottery player to win a $100,000 top prize in the SCRABBLE Crossword scratch game since its 2024 debut. Three more top prizes remain unclaimed.

SCRABBLE Crossword, a $10 scratch game, is based on the classic board game. It offers prizes from $10 to $100,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.20. The game is licensed by Scientific Games, LLC.

Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $6 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $2.5 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds help our state in multiple ways. They help Iowa veterans and their families through the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. They help the families of Iowa peace officers, firefighters and corrections employees who die in the line of duty. And they provide help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund.
