Trips To Iowa Locales Up For Grabs In 'Destination Iowa' Initiative

'Bass Pro Shops' Game Linked To Promotion For Trip Packages

DES MOINES, Iowa - Five travel getaways in Iowa are up for grabs in a new initiative from the Iowa Lottery, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Iowa Tourism Office.

The "Destination Iowa" promotion began at noon Wednesday, offering $300 gift cards to each of five vacation spots across the state: Honey Creek Resort State Park on Rathbun Lake in south-central Iowa; Café Dodici and Dodici Night Suite in Washington; the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Historic Park Inn Hotel in Mason City; King's Pointe Waterpark Resort in Storm Lake; and Harrah's Council Bluffs Casino and Hotel.

"Our thoughts here in Iowa are turning to spring, which has us all thinking about getting out and about," Lottery CEO Terry Rich said Monday. "It's a perfect time to explore our state, and Destination Iowa will give some lucky winners the chance to do just that."

The new $5 "Bass Pro Shops®" instant-scratch game that went on sale Wednesday is tied to the promotion. If you don't win an instant prize playing the game, you can enter that non-winning ticket in the Destination Iowa promotion. You'll be able to select which trip drawing you want to use your ticket to enter.

Entries can be made in the promotion through noon on April 29. On May 1, the lottery will hold drawings for a $300 gift card to each of the five special Iowa getaway spots. The gift cards can be used for:

• Honey Creek Resort State Park on Rathbun Lake (redeemable for hotel accommodations, golf or water passes and dining) www.honeycreekresort.com

To enter the promotion, Iowa Lottery players must join or already be members of the lottery's free VIP Club. Complete rules are available on the lottery website at www.ialottery.com and drawing results also will be posted there. To enter, players will visit the promotion page on the lottery's website. There, they will click on an "Enter Here" button to enter the 10-digit entry number from the front of a nonwinning Bass Pro Shops scratch ticket along with the ticket number from the back.
