Dubuque, Sioux City & Knoxville Residents Will Get To Make Dash Of A Lifetime
DES MOINES, Iowa – Lottery players from Dubuque, Sioux City and Knoxville are gearing up to make the dash of a lifetime in the Iowa Lottery's "Warehouse Dash" promotion.
The three winners – Ruth Dolter of Dubuque, Joshua Meier of Sioux City and Donna Zoutte of Knoxville – will travel to the lottery's main Points for Prizes™ warehouse in Chicago during a weekend getaway June 22-24 and participate in a 90-second dash through the warehouse to grab as much top-brand merchandise as they can. Their names were selected as contestants during a lottery drawing Wednesday.
During the dash, the three contestants will have the chance to grab items offered in the VIP Club's online prize store, which includes televisions and other sought-after electronics, housewares, jewelry, camping gear and sporting equipment. But the warehouse includes even more than that, so the selection is huge! Each winner will get to choose a partner to accompany them on their weekend trip and in the dash itself.
"There's no doubt the winners are going to have a great experience running through the warehouse and grabbing all of their favorite items," Lottery CEO Terry Rich said. "They may want to start practicing now for their 90-second dash."
Players entered the promotion through the Iowa Lottery's VIP Club from March 5 through noon Monday. On the ticket-entry page on the VIP Club website at www.ialotteryvip.com, players entered the 10-digit entry number from the front of a nonwinning $10 "Did I Win?" instant-scratch ticket, along with the ticket number from the back. A different nonwinning Did I Win ticket was used for each entry, and lottery players entered more than 120,000 tickets in the promotion.
The first drawing in the promotion occurred April 12 to determine the three contestants who took Warehouse Dash trips May 11-13. Ruben Cardona of Lowden, Jan Peterson of Harlan, and Melissa Kramer of Marshalltown each took home between $10,000 and $13,000 in merchandise from their dash.
The contestants and their guests get a two-night stay at the Chicago Marriott® Downtown Magnificent Mile hotel, a welcome dinner at the nearby Fleming's® steakhouse, transportation to and from the warehouse for the dash, and then are able to have fun on their own on the second night. Each contestant also receives $1,500 travel and spending cash and the lottery pays the state and federal taxes for the prize package. The Warehouse Dash prize package is valued at an estimated $20,000, but the total amount is determined by the merchandise each winner grabs during the dash.
Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $2.8 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.3 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.
Today, lottery proceeds in Iowa have three main purposes: They provide support for veterans, help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund, and backing for the Vision Iowa program, which was implemented to create tourism destinations and community attractions in the state and build and repair schools.
