Lottery Will Give Away
Chevy Tahoe Hybrid During Drawing At State Fair
DES MOINES, Iowa - Eight Iowa Lottery players will be part of a drawing at the Iowa State Fair to
determine which one of them will get to go green by winning the nation's first full-size hybrid
sport utility vehicle.
The eight players were selected as semifinalists in the lottery's “Set of
Wheels” promotion that began in May and will culminate with a grand prize drawing on
Aug. 7 at the State Fair. The grand prize in the promotion is a new, 2008 four-wheel drive Chevy
Tahoe Hybrid®, which was named “Green Car of the Year” by the Green Car
Journal and has won several automotive excellence awards at national auto shows.
The Tahoe Hybrid vehicle package is valued at more than $79,000! And, the Tahoe Hybrid offers
up to 50 percent better city fuel economy over the non-hybrid Tahoe.
The semifinalists are:
- Raymond Craig of North Liberty
- Nancy Fear of Milford
- Kevin Holtkamp of Burlington
- James Hunt Sr. of Marshalltown
- Shirley Miller of Osceola
- David Seda of Marion
- Becky Venneman of Ames
- and Ben Copeland of Omaha, Neb.
During the State Fair event, semifinalists will be eliminated as their names are drawn until the
final name remaining in the drawing drum wins the Tahoe Hybrid. Each semifinalist invited to the
drawing at the fair will receive hotel accommodations and $200 spending cash from the lottery. The
semifinalists who do not win the sport utility vehicle also will receive a $500 ethanol card they can
use to purchase fuel. The SUV package winner will receive the vehicle, a $500 ethanol card and
$1,000 cash.
Ken Brickman, the lottery's acting CEO, said the lottery is pleased to offer a hybrid vehicle
as a prize.
“We're all experiencing the extremes of today's fuel prices, and a vehicle like
the Tahoe Hybrid can help keep the focus on fuel economy,” Brickman said.
Players entered the Set of Wheels promotion by visiting the Iowa Lottery's Web site at
www.ialottery.com and entering the serial number from a nonwinning $20 “Set For Life”
instant-scratch ticket. More than 12,000 entries were received during the entry period from May 23
through July 13.
Since the Iowa Lottery's inception in 1985, more than $2.1 billion has been awarded in prizes
and more than $1.1 billion has been raised for state programs.
