Players have the chance to 'Tech the Halls' even after the holidays

DES MOINES, Iowa – If you receive any Iowa Lottery holiday scratch tickets as gifts this season, Lottery Officials remind you to keep the nonwinners.

"Many Iowans will receive and play gifts of Iowa Lottery holiday scratch tickets for the first time," explains Terry Rich, Iowa Lottery CEO. "But for the first time, all nonwinning holiday tickets are eligible for bonus 'tech' gifts by entering the ticket serial numbers online at ialottery.com."

Lottery officials said the proper time to toss the tickets will be after checking the results of the bonus winners drawn on January 5, since tickets drawn must be presented to claim the bonus prize.

"We'll have a lot of people winning bonus prizes they wished they'd received as holiday gifts," said Rich.

The Iowa Lottery's "Tech The Halls" holiday bonus promotion offers 200 prizes of Sony® electronics along with 10 cash prizes of $10,000. Players can enter the promotion by using nonwinning tickets in the six holiday-themed instant-scratch games released by the Lottery this season in Iowa. Different levels of prizes are involved for different tickets.

If your holiday scratch tickets don't win an instant prize on your holiday scratch ticket, visit the lottery's Web site at www.ialottery.com and key in the serial number from the back of your ticket to enter the holiday bonus promotion. Here are the tickets you can enter and the prizes you can win:

• $1 Season's Delight = chance to win one of 50 Sony® portable DVD players.
• $2 Snowman Bingo and Oh, Deer! = chance to win 1 of 50 Sony® Blu-ray Disc™ players.
• $3 Jingle Bell Crossword = chance to win one of 50 Sony® VAIO® notebook computers.
• $5 Holly Jolly Jackpot = chance to win one of 50 Sony® Bravia® 32-inch LCD TVs.
• $10 Nutcracker Cash = chance to win one of 10 prizes of $10,000.

Players have until noon on Monday, January 4 to enter the promotion. The prize drawings will be held on January 5 and the lottery will post the winning numbers on its Web site.
