DES MOINES, Iowa – An Earlham woman won the first top prize of $30,000 playing the lottery's "Instant Cash Keno" instant-scratch game.

Cindy Morrison claimed her prize Thursday at the Iowa Lottery's headquarters in Des Moines. She bought her winning ticket at Casey's, 1021 N. First St. in Winterset.

Instant Cash Keno is a $3 scratch game. Players win a prize by matching the "Keno numbers" to the numbers in Games 1 - 6. If a player matches the appropriate numbers in each individual game, they win the corresponding prize shown for that game. Players scratch the bonus box and if they find any prize amount, they win that amount.

Seven prizes of $30,000 are still up for grabs in Instant Cash Keno as well as 14 prizes of $5,000, more than 200 prizes of $200 and more than 495 prizes of $100.

Since the Iowa Lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $2.4 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.2 billion for state programs.
