$15,000-Winning Mega Millions® Ticket Sold In Southwest Iowa

Nebraska Man Claims Big Prize from March 18 Drawing

Charles "Corky" Robinson   Hear Corky tell his story.

DES MOINES, Iowa - A Nebraska salesman said he purchased a Mega Millions ticket while on his route in southwest Iowa last week and ended up winning a $15,000 prize.

Charles "Corky" Robinson of Crete, Neb., said he stopped March 17 at Casey's, 501 W. Clarinda Ave. in Shenandoah to buy some snacks and decided to purchase a Mega Millions ticket as well.

The decision paid off as he came within one number of having a share of the March 18 jackpot, and ended up winning a $15,000 prize. He matched four white balls and the Mega Ball in that night's drawing to win $5,000. And since he added the Megaplier® to his purchase, his winnings multiplied to $15,000.

Robinson, 59, said he looked up the winning numbers on the Iowa Lottery's website March 19 and then went out to his truck to check his ticket.

"I checked the truck and I called (my wife) and said, 'Guess what? We won!'" he said. "She was all smiles."

The winning numbers in the monster $414 million jackpot drawing on March 18 were: 11-19-24-33-51 and Mega Ball 7. The Megaplier number that night was 3.

There were two jackpot winning tickets in that night's drawing. The winning tickets were bought in Florida and Maryland. Friday's estimated jackpot is $15 million.

Players can multiply their prizes (except the jackpot) with the Megaplier up to five times. The cost is $1 per play or $2 per play with the Megaplier.

Robinson claimed his prize March 19 at the lottery's regional office in Council Bluffs. Robinson, a regular Mega Millions player, said he buys lottery tickets along his weekly route through western Iowa, eastern Nebraska and northern Kansas. He said he has previously won as much as $400 in one drawing playing Mega Millions.

Robinson said he and his wife, Roxanne, plan to pay bills with the lottery winnings and save some for a vacation this summer.

Another $15,000-winning ticket sold in Iowa for the March 18 drawing has yet to be claimed. That ticket was purchased at Casey's, 5110 S. Iowa Highway 13 in Coggon.

Winning numbers may be checked at the lottery website at www.ialottery.com or through the winning numbers' hot line at (515) 323-4633. Winning numbers may also be checked with lottery retail outlets or by calling the lottery at (515) 725-7900 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
