Aaron StarkweatherAaron Starkweather Wins Top Prize in "Cherry Twist" Scratch Game

DES MOINES, Iowa – A Muscatine man has won $15,000 playing the "Cherry Twist" scratch game.

Aaron Starkweather claimed his prize Friday at the Iowa Lottery regional office in Cedar Rapids. Starkweather bought his winning ticket at Kum & Go, 709 Grandview in Muscatine.

Cherry Twist is a $2 scratch game. Players win a prize by uncovering three like symbols in the same spin to win the prize shown for that spin. If players uncover a "Cherry" symbol they win the prize shown for that spin. Uncover a "Twist" symbol and win all 10 prizes instantly. The overall odds of winning in the game are about 1 in 3.65.

Four prizes of $15,000 are still up for grabs in Cherry Twist and more than 100 prizes of $150.

Since the Iowa Lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $2.2 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.1 billion for state programs.
