Linda McKeen of Jesup Wins Big Prize in March 26 Drawing
DES MOINES, Iowa - A northern Iowa woman got a big surprise when she had her Powerball tickets checked recently.
Linda McKeen of Jesup used s self-scanner April 15 to check a series of recent Powerball tickets and learned she had won $10,000 from a drawing last month.
"I just keep them all in the back of my purse and then once in a while I'll go check it every so often and then I get rid of them and start all over again," McKeen said.
McKeen matched four white balls and the Powerball in the March 26 drawing to win a $10,000 prize. She purchased her winning ticket at Kwik Star, 841 South St. in Jesup.
The winning numbers in that night's $40 million jackpot drawing were 28-33-41-44-59 and Powerball 21. The Power Play® number drawn was 2. The Powerball jackpot continues to grow and has climbed to an estimated $150 million for Wednesday's drawing.
McKeen, 61, said she thought one of her tickets was a big winner and had a clerk double-check it for her.
"So, they checked it and then they were all screaming and yelling," McKeen told lottery employees Wednesday as she claimed her prize at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
McKeen said she didn't know how to react after learning she had won a $10,000 prize.
"I just kind of was watching everybody," she said. "I was a little shocked."
McKeen, who works at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, said she plans to share her lottery winnings with her two children.
