DES MOINES, Iowa - A Scott County woman has won a hot lottery prize.

Kimberly Potter of Bettendorf won $10,000 in the April 19 Hot Lotto® drawing. She purchased the winning ticket at Big 10 Mart, 3469 Middle Road in Bettendorf and claimed her prize at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Hot Lotto players choose five numbers from a pool of 39 and another number, called the Hot Ball, from a pool of 19. The Hot Lotto jackpot starts at $1 million and grows until someone wins it. Tickets in the game cost $1. Hot Lotto drawings are held at about 9:40 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays, just before the Powerball drawings. Overall odds to win a prize are 1 in 16 and about 1 in 10.9 million to win the jackpot.

Winning numbers for the April 19 Hot Lotto drawing were 8-22-27-36-37. The winning Hot Ball was 13.

If Potter had played the Hot Lotto Sizzler®, she would have won $30,000!

Players can increase their non-jackpot prizes with the Hot Lotto Sizzler by three times. The cost is $1 per play. Prizes are always tripled with the Hot Lotto Sizzler.

Winning numbers may be checked by calling the lottery at (515) 725-7900 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Winning numbers may also be checked through the winning numbers' hot line at (515) 323-4633, at the lottery Web site at www.ialottery.com or with lottery retail outlets.

Players may visit the Iowa Lottery at 2323 Grand Ave. in Des Moines or go to one of the lottery's regional offices in Council Bluffs, Storm Lake, Mason City or Cedar Rapids to claim prizes.

Since the Iowa Lottery's inception in 1985, more than $2.1 billion has been awarded in prizes and more than $1.1 billion has been raised for state programs.
