Leonard Thompson Wins Top Prize Playing 'Cash Bonanza' Scratch Game

DES MOINES, Iowa - A Jones County man has won a $250,000 prize playing the Iowa Lottery's "Cash Bonanza" instant-scratch game.

Leonard Thompson of Anamosa claimed his prize Wednesday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. He claimed the ninth of 10 top prizes of $250,000 available in the Cash Bonanza game.

If players find the "coin" symbol, they win that prize instantly. If they find the "star" symbol, they win double the prize amount shown for that symbol. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.57.
