IOWA CITY MAN WINS $10,000 LOTTERY PRIZE

Stephen Maxey Wins Playing the "Goin' Green" Scratch Game

DES MOINES, Iowa – An Iowa City man won the top prize of $10,000 playing the "Goin' Green" instant-scratch game.

Stephen Maxey claimed his prize Wednesday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. Maxey bought his winning ticket at Gasby's, 2303 Muscatine Ave. in Iowa City.

Goin' Green is a $2 instant scratch game. Players win a prize by matching any of "Your Numbers" to either "Winning Number" and win the prize shown for that number. If players uncover the "Dollar Bill" symbol they win double the prize shown. The overall odds of winning in the game are 1 in 3.75.

Four prizes of $10,000 are still up for grabs in Goin' Green as well as 23 prizes of $500.

Since the Iowa Lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $2.2 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.1 billion for state programs.
