DES MOINES, Iowa - A La Porte City woman couldn't wait to share the news of her $50,000 win playing the lottery's "Hot $50,000" instant-scratch game after scratching it alone in her car.
Gina Frost, 53, stopped by Thriftway, 300 Fourth St. in La Porte City to pick up her ticket and couldn't wait to get home to call her husband, Jeff, after discovering what she'd won.
"He's like, 'Uh, you're lying! It's a joke.' He had to come home and look at the ticket to make sure I wasn't losing it," Frost said.
Frost said she had played the Hot $50,000 game a couple of times but chose the game at random. Frost has also shared the news with other family and friends, who are all excited for her.
"I've played it a couple of times, not very often," she said. "It's quite a shock."
Frost said she plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills. She claimed her prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
