Judy Lien Wins $100,000 Prize in Wednesday Drawing
DES MOINES, Iowa - An Algona woman said she was at work when she first got an inkling that
she may have won the top prize in Wednesday's drawing of Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game.
Judy Lien said she and her sister were on break together at the Snap-on Tools Co. plant in
Algona when her sister told her of a radio news report about a big lottery winner at a local Casey's
store.
“I said, ‘Oh my gosh, I always buy my tickets at Casey's!’”
Lien said. “So I called my husband and I said, ‘You'd better check my numbers
quick and call me right back at work.’”
Lien, 58, said she returned to the production line and was telling people that she might be a big
winner when she began to be paged at the plant. Her husband, Randy, was calling her.
“And then I started screaming and hollering,” she said. “He said,
‘You did win! You did win! I checked it four or five times and you did win!’ It was
wonderful.”
Lien claimed her prize Thursday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Mason City. She
won the top prize in Wednesday's drawing of Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game by matching
all five numbers drawn. The winning numbers in Wednesday's drawing were: 13-14-16-22-24.
Lien bought her winning ticket at Casey's, 602 E. State St. in Algona.
Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game is a lotto game with drawings Monday-Saturday. Players
choose five numbers from a pool of 35. Plays cost $1 and drawings are at 6:28 p.m. Prizes range
from a free play to $100,000.
Lien said she and her husband have several plans for her lottery winnings.
“Some of it's going to the church and we'll probably pay bills,” she
said. “And we have six grandkids and two kids to help us out with the rest!”
Winning numbers may be checked at the lottery Web site at www.ialottery.com or through the
winning numbers' hot line at (515) 323-4633. Winning numbers may also be checked with
lottery retail outlets or by calling the lottery at (515) 725-7900 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Monday-Friday.

billion has been awarded in prizes and more than $1.1 billion
