DES MOINES, Iowa - A stop at a grocery store for cold medicine and an Iowa Lottery ticket before work Thursday paid off for a Council Bluffs woman.

Cynthia Fast, 57, said she started "shaking" when she got to work and saw that she had won $100,000 on a "Blazing Hot 7s Game Book" instant-scratch ticket she had purchased at Hy-Vee, 2323 W. Broadway in Council Bluffs.

"I went in an office and called my husband and said, 'John, you have to go with me,'" she said. "He couldn't understand what I was saying. He thought maybe I got fired or something."

Fast, who works at an engineering firm in Omaha, Neb., claimed the fifth of 10 top prizes of $100,000 available in the lottery's Blazing Hot 7s Game Book scratch game. She claimed her prize the same day at the lottery's regional office in Council Bluffs.

Fast said she plans to use her lottery winnings to take a tropical vacation this winter with John to celebrate their wedding anniversary. She also plans to buy a new car.

"I think it would just be fun to be able to go in and buy a new car and say, 'I'm paying cash!'" she said.

Blazing Hot 7s Game Book, a $20 instant-scratch ticket, is the second game book product offered by the lottery. Each ticket in the game is actually a booklet with multiple games spread across six pages. The game's top prize is $100,000 and players can win multiple times in each booklet.

Blazing Hot 7s Game Book tickets will be void if any pages are separated from the book. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 2.52.

Five top prizes of $100,000 are still up for grabs in Blazing Hot 7s Game Book, along with six prizes of $10,000, 327 prizes of $1,000 and thousands of prizes from $100 to $500.
