DES MOINES, Iowa - A Sioux City man has won a $50,000 lottery prize.

Michael Morgan claimed the first of 12 top prizes of $50,000 available in the Iowa Lottery's new "$50,000 Bonus Gift" instant-scratch game.

Morgan claimed his prize Friday at the lottery's regional office in Storm Lake. He purchased his winning ticket at Bacon Creek Country Store, 2520 Gordon Drive in Sioux City.

"$50,000 Bonus Gift" is a $5 double-sided scratch game. Players win prizes by uncovering game symbols. The back of the ticket has a bonus game where players can win by matching a "winning number" to any of "your numbers." Each game is played separately. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.62.

Eleven top prizes of $50,000 are still up for grabs in $50,000 Bonus Gift, as well as 194 prizes of $1,000 and hundreds of prizes of $200 and $100.

Players can enter nonwinning $50,000 Bonus Gift scratch tickets online in the Gifts Galore Play It Again® promotion, which offers 310 Sony® electronics and cash prizes. When a player enters an eligible nonwinning scratch ticket in Gifts Galore, he or she will receive one entry in the drawing for the corresponding Sony® electronic or cash prize category.
