DES MOINES, Iowa - An Eldora man won a top prize of $50,000 playing the lottery's "Peppermint Super Crossword" instant-scratch game.

Edgar Bills claimed his prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Mason City. He purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 1616 Edgington Ave. in Eldora.

Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $3 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.4 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.
