Shawna Larsen Wins Top Prize Playing 'Tic-Tac Dough' Scratch Game
DES MOINES, Iowa - A northeast Iowa woman scratched off an Iowa Lottery "Tic-Tac Dough" instant-scratch ticket she found in her purse and ended up winning a $30,000 prize.
Shawna Larsen of New Hampton said she purchased the ticket Friday at Casey's, 615 N. Linn Ave. in New Hampton, put it in her purse and forgot about it.
"I was with my daughter and she was going through my purse looking for candy," Larsen, 33, said. "I was like, 'Oh yeah. Let's see how much we won.'"
Larsen, who works at Bucky's in Lawler, said she started scratching off her ticket and knew right away that she had won.
"Then I scratched some more and I saw a 3-0. I'm like, 'Oh we won $30 - $30,000!'" she said.
Larsen claimed her prize Tuesday at the lottery's regional office in Mason City. She claimed the second of seven top prizes of $30,000 available in the Tic-Tac Dough game.
The single mother said her lottery winnings will be used to pay bills.
