URBANDALE MAN WINS $10,000 LOTTERY PRIZE

Scott Wood Wins Big Prize Playing "$35 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratch Game

DES MOINES, Iowa – An Urbandale man won a $10,000 prize playing the lottery's "$35 Million Cash Spectacular" instant-scratch game.

Scott Wood claimed his prize Tuesday at the Iowa Lottery's headquarters in Des Moines. He purchased his winning ticket at Kum & Go, 15600 Hickman Rd. in Clive.

The $35 Million Cash Spectacular is a $10 game. Players who match any of "their numbers" to any "winning number" on their ticket win the prize shown for that play area. If they find a "star" symbol, they win the prize shown instantly. The overall odds of winning in the game are about 1 in 3.

The $35 Million Cash Spectacular scratch game began with more than 1.4 million dollars in prizes available. Three top prizes of $250,000 are still up for grabs in the game along with 9 prizes of $20,000, 21 prizes of $10,000 and several thousand prizes ranging from $100 to $1,000.

Since the Iowa Lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $2.4 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.2 billion for state programs.
