Starting Sunday, Players Will Have More Time to Buy Their Lotto Tickets
DES MOINES, Iowa - Starting this weekend, lotto players in Iowa will have more time to buy tickets in their favorite games.
Beginning Sunday, the sales cutoff times before Powerball® and Hot Lotto drawings and the evening drawings in Pick 3 and Pick 4 will be pushed back along with drawing and cutoff times in Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game.
Powerball players in Iowa will gain another hour of playing time before the game's drawings on Wednesday and Saturday nights. The sales cutoff time in Powerball is being pushed back from 7:59 p.m. to 8:59 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The sales cutoff time before Mega Millions drawings on Tuesday and Friday nights will be 8:59 p.m., the same as for Powerball drawings on Wednesday and Saturday nights.
The sales cutoff times for Hot Lotto drawings and the evening drawings of Pick 3 and Pick 4 also will be pushed back, from 7:59 p.m. to 8:18 p.m.
Drawings in Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game currently take place at 6:28 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Starting next week, the game's drawings will occur at 8:28 p.m., with the sales cutoff time leading up to each night's drawing occurring at 8:18 p.m. The change will give players two additional hours to purchase their $100,000 Cash Game tickets.
Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich said that with computer system changes underway for Sunday's start of sales in the Mega Millions jackpot game, the lottery was able to incorporate some changes in the sales times of its other lotto games.
"This was the perfect opportunity for us to make things more convenient for our customers by giving them more time to play," Rich said.
