Racing To Riches' Instant-Scratch Game And Promotion Highlight Racing
DES MOINES, Iowa - Lottery players have the chance to win cash prizes or trips to see three elite U.S. Thoroughbred races in the new "Racing to Riches" game and promotion from the Iowa Lottery and Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino.
"We're excited to be part of a project that highlights two of our players' favorite forms of entertainment: horse racing and playing the lottery," said Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich. "It's another sign that lets us all know warmer weather has arrived after a long, cold winter."
The project marks the first time the Iowa Lottery has worked jointly with Prairie Meadows to create a scratch game with a racing theme and second-chance drawings.
The $3 Racing to Riches instant-scratch game is on sale statewide at lottery retailers. Tickets in the game feature artwork of jockeys riding horses and there are three play areas on each ticket. Instant prizes range from $3 up to $30,000.
If your ticket doesn't win a prize, you can enter it in the Racing to Riches promotion at Prairie Meadows in Altoona. There will be three drawings in the promotion for round-trip packages for two to the premier Thoroughbred races at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md., and Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y.
"These three races that winners will attend are the biggest races in the sport of Thoroughbred racing," said Prairie Meadows marketing director Jeff Nelson. "And since this promotion is being hosted by two organizations - the Iowa Lottery and Prairie Meadows - that know how to create winners, there's no question that this contest is going to be really big."
To enter the promotion, put your nonwinning Racing to Riches ticket in the drawing drum at the Finish Line Show Lounge at Prairie Meadows. You will need to enter in person - tickets that are mailed in will not be accepted.
The promotion's drawings will all be held in the Finish Line Show Lounge at Prairie Meadows. The first drawing on April 14 will be for a trip to the premier race on May 1 at Churchill Downs. Next up will be a drawing on April 28 for a trip to the May 15 headline race at Pimlico Race Course. And on May 19, the drawing will be for a trip to see the elite race on June 5 at Belmont Park. Each trip includes round-trip transportation for two, three nights' hotel accommodations and two tickets to the horse-racing event.
Those whose names are selected will be notified by in-house announcement at Prairie Meadows and will need to claim their prize at the Finish Line Show Lounge.
