Prizes Of $100,000 & $250,000 Won In Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game, Mega Millions
DES MOINES, Iowa - Tickets that won big prizes in Tuesday night's lottery drawings were sold in Davenport and Des Moines.
A ticket that won the top prize in "Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game" was sold at a Davenport supermarket while a ticket winning a $250,000 prize in Mega Millions® was sold at a Des Moines supermarket.
The $250,000-winning ticket was sold at Hy-Vee at 1107 S.E. Army Post Road in Des Moines. The winning numbers in Tuesday's $266 million Mega Millions drawing were: 9-21-31-36-43 and Mega Ball 8. The Megaplier® number was 3. The Des Moines ticket came close to winning a share of the jackpot, matched the first five numbers but missed the Mega Ball to win a $250,000 prize. Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot was won in California.
Powerball and Mega Millions are both lotto games with jackpot prizes that have climbed into the hundreds of millions of dollars. Until recently, the games had been sold by separate groups of lotteries, but many states, including Iowa, began selling tickets in both games in January.
The $100,000-winning ticket was purchased at Hy-Vee at 2200 W. Kimberly Road in Davenport. The winning numbers in Tuesday's $100,000 Cash Game drawing were: 2-10-13-24-28. The $100,000-winning ticket matched all five numbers drawn to win the top prize.
Players in Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game choose five numbers from a pool of 35. Tickets in the game cost $1 and drawings are held at 8:28 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Both tickets must be claimed at an Iowa Lottery office. The lottery's offices are in Council Bluffs, Storm Lake, Des Moines, Mason City and Cedar Rapids.
