DES MOINES, Iowa - A Cedar Rapids woman said she could barely stand up when she discovered she'd won the top prize playing her favorite scratch game.

Deborah Griffin, 52, said she loves to play the "Crossword" scratch game because it takes her time, but she never thought she'd see a $30,000 win.

"I always play Crossword. I counted them once, but then I had everybody else check it. I can barely even stand here," she laughed.

Griffin scratched her ticket at a local hospital where her mother is staying. She said her big win would definitely bring a smile to her mother's face. She added that she'd told everyone she could get a hold of on the phone about her win, too.

"They're excited. Everybody's excited," she said as she claimed her prize Friday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. She purchased her winning ticket at Kwik Shop, 4201 Center Point Rd. in Cedar Rapids.

Griffin, who works as a dump truck driver for Metro Papers, said she plans to use some of her winnings to move into a new house.

"Just keep on playing them," was Griffin's advice to other lottery players.
