Don Digmann Wins Top Prize Playing "Bingo Night" Scratch Game
DES MOINES, Iowa - A Waterloo man said he and his entire family were shocked when he won the top prize of $25,000 playing the "Bingo Night" scratch game.
Don Digmann, 83, said it was quite a surprise to win $25,000 playing his favorite game.
"Oh, I about went crazy. I can't believe it!" Digmann said.
Digmann said the lottery's Bingo games are the only scratch games he plays and he enjoys them very much. He was home with his wife when he discovered the win.
"I showed it to her and she couldn't believe it," Digmann said.
After he and his wife had looked at the ticket, Digmann called his son to come over and check it for him.
"He was shocked just like I was," Digmann said.
After determining he had won, Digmann took the ticket back to Casey's, 1604 La Porte Road in Waterloo, where he purchased it to have it validated.
"When I went down there yesterday and got the receipt, they were surprised," Digmann said.
Digmann, who is a retired factory worker, said he plans to put his winnings into savings. He says he'll definitely continue to play.
"I'll save it for when I get older," Digmann laughed.
Digmann claimed his prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
