DES MOINES, Iowa - After discovering her $50,000 win on the lottery's "Black Pearls" instant-scratch game, a Monroe woman shared her other Black Pearls tickets with those around her.

Kimberly Beard, 43, said she was so excited about her win, she couldn't even think about scratching the additional tickets she'd purchased.

"I scratched the second number and looked at it, and then looked at it again," Beard said. "I grabbed all my tickets and asked the clerk, 'Will you look at this with me and make sure I'm not seeing things?'"

After the clerk validated her ticket, Beard shared the news of her win and her remaining tickets with the some of the others standing in the store. She said many of them were excited to share the win with her.

"There were a couple of guys that were in the truck next to me and they said, 'Hey, congratulations on your win!' And they were holding up their tickets," Beard said.

Beard said she felt extra lucky to have won the top prize, because the winning number was her lucky number, which is 27. She said she plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills, as well as take a trip to the Mall of America.

Beard called family first to tell them of her win. She said they were all very excited about the good news.

Beard claimed her prize Wednesday at the Iowa Lottery's headquarters in Des Moines. She purchased her winning ticket at Newton 66, 1806 S. 12th Ave. W in Newton.
