Scot Morse Claims Big Prize Playing "Lifetime Riches" Scratch Game
DES MOINES, Iowa - After winning $35 on other Iowa Lottery instant-scratch games, a Davenport man bought a "Lifetime Riches" ticket and ended up winning a $10,000 prize.
Scot Morse, 40, said he normally wouldn't have purchased the $20 Lifetime Riches ticket, but since he had won some money on other lottery games he decided to try something new.
"I decided to scratch them in my driveway and I thought it was a $100 winner," Morse said. "And then I scratched it off the rest of the way and I just couldn't believe it."
Morse said even though he was alone when he scratched the ticket, it wasn't long before others knew about the win.
"I didn't keep it in very long. I went right inside and showed my kids," he said. "They couldn't believe it until I showed them the ticket."
Morse said he had a lot of thoughts running through his head after discovering the win.
"I just thought about how I could spend it and how did it happen to me?" he said.
Morse, who is a machine repairman, said he plans to use some of his winnings to pay bills as well as put some in savings.
"It's a once in a lifetime thing, you have to make it count," Morse said.
Morse claimed his prize Dec. 28 at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. He purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 2351 W. Locust St. in Davenport.
