DES MOINES, Iowa - A Nebraska City, Neb. man was traveling through Fremont County when he purchased a Hot Lotto ticket and ended up winning a $10,000 prize in the Jan. 5 drawing.
Terry Rutledge claimed his prize Wednesday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Council Bluffs. He purchased his winning ticket at The Junction, 2501 210th Ave. in Percival.
The winning numbers in the $1.05 million Hot Lotto jackpot drawing on Jan. 5 were: 18-19-32-33-38 and Hot Ball 1. Rutledge matched the five white balls but missed the Hot Ball to win a $10,000 prize. Had he added the Sizzler option to his ticket, Rutledge would have multiplied his $10,000 win by three for a $30,000 prize. There was no jackpot winner for that night's drawing.
Hot Lotto players choose five numbers from a pool of 39 and another number, called the Hot Ball, from a pool of 19. The Hot Lotto jackpot starts at $1 million and grows until someone wins it. Tickets in the game cost $1. Hot Lotto drawings are held at about 9:40 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays, just before the Powerball drawings.
Players can multiply their non-jackpot prizes by three with the Hot Lotto Sizzler option. The cost is $1 per play. Prizes are always tripled with the Hot Lotto Sizzler.
