DES MOINES, Iowa - A Calmar woman was in for a big surprise when she stopped by a convenience store after work to pick up some food and a few lottery tickets.

Theresa Hudecek, 48, said she decided on a whim to pick up a few tickets at MK Fueltime, 825 W. Milwaukee St. in New Hampton, on her way home from work. While she was waiting for her husband, Greg, to get home she decided to scratch her tickets in "The Silver Ticket" game and ended up winning the top prize of $25,000.

"It was the very first one!" Hudecek said. "I won 15 dollars on the third one, too."

Hudecek said Greg was in total disbelief when she told him.

"He said, 'There's a catch to it!' So we went to our local convenience store and ran it through and finally he believed it," Hudecek said.

Hudecek said all her coworkers at TriMark Corporation in New Hampton know of her win too because she took a photocopy to work with her to prove she had won.

"It spread like fire," Hudecek said. "I knew they wouldn't believe me."

Hudecek said she plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills and plans to put the rest into savings.

Hudecek claimed her prize Thursday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Mason City.
