Hear Gwen tell her story.
DES MOINES, Iowa - A Clarksville woman was so excited to win the top prize of $30,000 playing "Crossword," she immediately got in the car to go claim her prize.
Gwen Keough, 54, was at the Express Mart at 205 N. Main St. in Clarksville with her brother and sister-in-law when she discovered her win. She had purchased her ticket there just a few minutes earlier.
"We all went through it about five times to make sure," Keough said. "I feel kind of sick to my stomach!"
After making sure her ticket was a winner, Keough and her family members drove immediately to the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Mason City so she could claim her prize.
"I'm still in shock. They can't read my writing here," Keough said with a laugh.
Keough said even though she hadn't had much time to think about it, she planned to use her winnings to pay bills. She claimed her prize April 25.
