DES MOINES, Iowa - A Boone couple was enjoying their weekly routine of playing a few Iowa Lottery scratch games when they discovered they'd won the top prize of $30,000 playing "Lucky Lines."

Deb McIntyre, 54, and her husband, Randy, play scratch games once a week for fun; but they never dreamed they'd win big.

"He said to me, 'How would you like to give me $200 for this ticket?'" McIntyre said. "And I said, 'Well, why would I? I bought the ticket.' And he said, 'He turned around and goes, 'Thirty thousand dollars!'"

McIntyre said she didn't believe Randy at first, but after looking at the ticket the excitement started to build. Each of them called their mothers to tell them the news.

"They were excited," McIntyre said. "Our children didn't believe us because we've played pranks on them before."

McIntyre, who is a cashier at Walmart in Boone, said Lucky Lines is one of her and Randy's favorite tickets to play. She said she's not sure yet how they'll use their winnings.

"We're so excited about it we haven't decided," she said.

The McIntyres claimed their prize May 18 at the Iowa Lottery's headquarters in Des Moines. They purchased the winning ticket at Kum & Go, 315 Story St. in Boone.
