Carol Lombard Wins Top Prize Playing "Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game"
DES MOINES, Iowa - A Webster County woman won the top prize for a second time playing "Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game."
Carol Lombard, 66, of Lehigh won the $100,000 prize in the June 21 drawing. She purchased the winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 115 S. 29th St., Fort Dodge.
Lombard looked up the winning numbers on the Iowa Lottery website the night of the drawing and saw that she'd won. She was very excited to be a two-time winner of "Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game." She previously won in 1993.
"I didn't go to sleep until three o'clock this morning," Lombard said.
Lombard, who is retired, shared the news with her husband, daughter and grandchild. They were also with her when she claimed her prize at the Iowa Lottery regional office in Storm Lake on Wednesday.
"They're pretty excited because they're going to get a little of it!" Lombard said.
She plans to do the same thing with her prize money as she did the last time she won.
"I am going to pay a couple of bills off, put some in savings and give some to the kids," she said.
Players in Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game choose five numbers from a pool of 35. Tickets in the game cost $1 and drawings are held at 6:28 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The odds of winning the game's top prize are 1 in 324,632.
