Louis Fenske Wins Top Prize Playing "Magic Line Bingo" Scratch Game

Louis Fenske   Hear Louis tell his story.

DES MOINES, Iowa - A Cedar Rapids man won the top prize of $25,000 playing the lottery's "Magic Line Bingo" instant-scratch game.

Louis Fenske, 59, of Cedar Rapids likes to play Iowa Lottery scratch games, but didn't expect to win the top prize of $25,000.

"I went and got my normal Bingo and Crossword," Fenske said. "And I won on the Bingo!"

As Fenske was scratching his ticket, he was skeptical that he might win big.

"I needed B13 in the bottom corner . I looked at the rest of the cards and there was four 13's and I said, 'Well, that's not gonna happen!' And sure enough, it came up and I went over it again and again!" Fenske said.

Fenske, who is a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service in Cedar Rapids, plans on paying some bills with his winnings.

Fenske claimed his $25,000 prize on Friday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. He purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 1843 Johnson Ave. N.W. in Cedar Rapids.
