DES MOINES, Iowa - A Warren County man scratched a ticket in the lottery's "The Black Ticket" game and revealed that he'd won a $50,000 prize.
Jim Quick, 65, of Milo went to get some beverages with his friends and purchased the top-prize-winning ticket at the Casey's, 426 N. Second St. in Milo.
"We just couldn't believe it when I scratched it right there," said Quick.
Everyone there helped verify the winning ticket.
"We just had to look at it three or four times to make sure," said Quick.
Quick shared the news with friends back home where he was grilling dinner.
"You're not gonna believe what just happened!" Quick told his friends. "Had to pass it around a couple times to show everybody."
Quick called two of his sons to give them the good news.
"Told them to plan a trip to Vegas. We've been there once before the three of us and we want to go back," Quick said.
He'll also use some of his winnings to re-roof his house.
Quick said he enjoys playing the lottery because you never know when you will win.
"I play 'em all," said Quick.
Quick, who is retired, claimed his prize Wednesday at the Iowa Lottery's headquarters in Des Moines.
