Janis Renner Wins Top Prize Playing "Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game"
DES MOINES, Iowa - A Mason City woman said when she sat down for her morning coffee and the newspaper she never expected to see all five of her "Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game" numbers were a match.
Janis Renner, 68, said she was following her regular morning routine by checking her Cash Game numbers while drinking her coffee when she discovered she'd won the top prize of $100,000.
"I started copying it down and I looked in the paper and I thought, 'Now wait a minute. Did I copy the right thing down?'" Renner said.
When Renner's husband, Kurt, came downstairs that morning, she told him the exciting news.
"I said, 'Would you check this for me please? I don't believe it!'" she said.
Renner said she usually chooses her own numbers on her Cash Game tickets and then gets one easy pick for each drawing she plays. It was the easy pick that won her the top prize.
"I don't usually win much," she said. "It's just something fun to do."
Renner said she and Kurt plan to put the winnings into savings.
Players in Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game choose five numbers from a pool of 35. Tickets in the game cost $1 and drawings are held at 6:28 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The odds of winning the game's top prize are 1 in 324,632.
Renner matched all five numbers in Monday's Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game drawing to win her $100,000 prize. The winning numbers that day were: 2-7-16-26-29.
