DES MOINES, Iowa - A Waterloo man won a top prize of $100,000 playing his own numbers in "Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game."
Juan Tobar, 82, said he feels extremely lucky to have won the prize.
"I'm so lucky. The money will help pay for my house and help others," Tobar said.
Tobar said he enjoys playing lotto games, and visits the same retailer each time. He purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 4000 University Ave. in Waterloo.
"They didn't believe it," Tobar said. "Only Hy-Vee knows!"
Tobar said he chooses his own numbers and uses a different set each time he plays Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game.
"I'm too old to get excited," Tobar said with a laugh. "But I'm glad they are."
Tobar said he plans to use some of his winnings to pay bills as well as help out family and friends. He claimed his prize Nov. 9 at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
