DES MOINES, Iowa - A Waterloo man won a top prize of $100,000 playing his own numbers in "Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game."

Juan Tobar, 82, said he feels extremely lucky to have won the prize.

"I'm so lucky. The money will help pay for my house and help others," Tobar said.

Tobar said he enjoys playing lotto games, and visits the same retailer each time. He purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 4000 University Ave. in Waterloo.

"They didn't believe it," Tobar said. "Only Hy-Vee knows!"

Tobar said he chooses his own numbers and uses a different set each time he plays Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game.

"I'm too old to get excited," Tobar said with a laugh. "But I'm glad they are."

Tobar said he plans to use some of his winnings to pay bills as well as help out family and friends. He claimed his prize Nov. 9 at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Players in Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game choose five numbers from a pool of 35. Tickets in the game cost $1 and drawings are held at 8:28 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The odds of winning the game's top prize are 1 in 324,632.

Tobar matched all five numbers in the Nov. 4 drawing of Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game to win his $100,000 prize. The winning numbers that day were: 5-8-13-16-19.
