DES MOINES, Iowa - After receiving a "Twisted" scratch ticket from his father as an early birthday gift, a Shenandoah man scratched the ticket and won a $30,000 prize.
Darin Ebersole, 23, said he couldn't believe his eyes when he uncovered the prize amount.
"I was like, 'That can't be right,'" Ebersole said. "I said, 'We have to go to the store and check this.'"
Ebersole, who is self-employed, couldn't wait to tell his friends and family about his big win.
"They're all happy for me," he said.
Ebersole had his ticket validated where his father purchased it, at Kum & Go, 1303 W. Sheridan Ave. in Shenandoah. Ebersole said he's wondering how his dad will top this birthday gift next year.
"I'm going to use it for some home improvements and car restoration," he said.
Ebersole claimed his prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Council Bluffs.
