Jeremy Butler Wins Top Prize Playing MONOPOLY™ Scratch Ticket

  Hear Jeremy tell his story.

DES MOINES, Iowa - A Northwood man was on his way to work when he decided to stop for a "MONOPOLY™" scratch ticket and ended up winning a top prize of $50,000.

Jeremy Butler, 25, was on his way to work at a meat packing plant when he decided to stop. He was surprised to discover what he'd won.

"I was kind of shocked," Butler said.

It happened to be the first time Butler had ever played the game.

"It's one of my favorite tickets now," he said.

The first person Butler told was his mom.

"When I called, she thought I had gotten a speeding ticket," Butler said with a laugh.

Butler said he plans to put his winnings into savings.

Jeremy Butler claimed his prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Mason City. He purchased his winning ticket at Fast Stop, 912 Central Ave. in Northwood.
