DES MOINES, Iowa - A Muscatine woman won a $10,000 prize playing the lottery's "Santa Games Doubler" holiday scratch game.

Teresa McCleary, 35, was in the car with her husband, Vern, when she discovered she'd won.

"I scratched and told him to pull over," McCleary said.

McCleary said Vern didn't believe her at first.

"After he believed it, all his stress was gone," she said.

McCleary said she saw the Santa Games Doubler ticket was new, so she decided to try it.

"It was just the luck of the ticket," she said.

McCleary took her ticket back to QC Mart, 3901 Brady St. in Davenport, where she purchased it, to have it validated.

"[The clerk] had wished me the best of luck so I wanted to take it back to her," McCleary said.

McCleary said she's hoping to use her winnings for a down payment on a house. She claimed her prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
