DES MOINES, Iowa - A Cedar Rapids woman couldn't believe her eyes when she discovered she'd won a top prize playing the lottery's "PAC-MAN™" instant-scratch game.
Wanda Wilson, 37, said she was chatting with her neighbors when she discovered the prize.
"At first I thought it said ten dollars and then it said ten thousand," Wilson said. "I was asking everybody, 'Is it real?' I've never won that kind of money before."
Wilson took her ticket back to Tobacco Outlet Plus, 2846 Mt. Vernon Road S.E. in Cedar Rapids to have it validated.
"I drove all the way back to the store where I bought it just so they could check it and I could be sure," she said.
Wanda, who works at Chick-fil-A in Cedar Rapids, said her children are very excited for her. She's also shared the news with a few coworkers.
"I wanted to tell everybody last night but decided to wait until I claimed it," Wilson said as she claimed her prize Feb. 23 at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
Wilson said she plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills.
"I think I'll wait for a little bit before I jump back in so I can let my luck build back up," Wilson said with a laugh.
