DES MOINES, Iowa - A Burlington man said he was surprised that winning a $50,000 lottery prize was as easy as buying an "Aces High" ticket and scratching it.
Kevin Holtkamp, 42, said he had a rather routine day, other than becoming $50,000 richer, that is.
"It's not much of a story, really," Holtkamp said. "I was just sitting at home scratching it and I realized I had won."
Holtkamp, who is a farmer, said he has only played the Aces High ticket a few times before winning a top prize. He called his mom first to tell her the news.
"She was happy," he said.
Holtkamp said he plans to use some of his winnings to put new crops in the ground this spring.
Holtkamp claimed his prize March 12 at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. He purchased his winning ticket at Wever Junction Inc., 1621 Green Bay Road in Wever.
