DES MOINES, Iowa - A Mahaska County woman purchased a "MONOPOLY™" instant-scratch ticket on second thought and ended up winning a top prize of $50,000.
Robyn Long, 50, said she stopped at Casey's, 203 E. Main St. in Fremont to pick up a few things and decided at the last minute to get a MONOPOLY™ ticket as well.
"I went home and scratched it and had my boyfriend look at it," Long said. "Then we went right back and had it validated."
Long, who is from Fremont, was glad to be able to share the experience with her boyfriend, Randy. She has also shared the news with other family and friends.
"I just couldn't believe it," she said. "They're all just thrilled for me."
Long said she plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills and would like to spoil her grandkids. She claimed her prize Thursday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
