Jean Pierce and Glen Jordan   Hear Jean tell her story.

DES MOINES, Iowa - A Council Bluffs woman said she never dreamed she'd win a $100,000 prize playing her long-time numbers in Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game.

Jean Pierce, 73, said she and her friend, Glen Jordan, have been playing each other's birthday numbers for years, but never expected to see the numbers come up.

"We never thought they'd ever come in, but they did!" Pierce said.

Pierce and Jordan claimed the prize together at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Council Bluffs Tuesday. Pierce said she has had fun telling people about her win.

"I just can't keep my mouth shut," Pierce said with a laugh.

Pierce, who works at Darrah's in Council Bluffs, said she checked her numbers prior to starting her shift.

"I thought, 'Gee, those numbers look familiar!'" she said.

Pierce said she isn't sure how to use her winnings quite yet. She purchased the winning ticket at Darrah's, 3607 Ninth Ave. in Council Bluffs.

Players in Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game choose five numbers from a pool of 35. Tickets in the game cost $1 and drawings are held at 8:28 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The odds of winning the game's top prize are 1 in 324,632.
