DES MOINES, Iowa - A La Porte City woman said her $30,000 "Crossword" win left her breathless.
Kathy Harrill, 49, was alone with her dog when she scratched her ticket.
"[I] couldn't breathe or talk," Harrill said. "My dog probably thought I was crazy."
Harrill said she feels incredibly lucky to be the winner of a top prize, especially since she bought the tickets with other scratch tickets that had won prizes.
"[My boyfriend] said, 'Are you going to calm down so I can talk?'" Harrill said as she claimed her prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
Aside from her boyfriend, John Christensen, Harrill has told her mom and other family members about the win.
"My daughter said, 'Bring me that ticket. I have to see it!'" Harrill said.
Harrill said she plans to use some of her winnings to donate to charity. She purchased her winning ticket at Tobacco Outlet Plus, 1803 Laporte Road in Waterloo.
