DES MOINES, Iowa - A Louisa County woman said she was anxious to claim her top prize of $10,000 on the lottery's "Pinball" scratch game so she knew it was real.

Roxanne Spearman, 56, said she was in such disbelief over winning a top prize, she wanted to make sure she was seeing things right.

"I kind of didn't believe it, but I scratched the winning numbers to make sure it was clear," Spearman said. "It was like, 'Oh, cool!' But I didn't want to get too excited until I had it in my hand."

Spearman, who is a driver/coordinator for Walmart Distributing, said she rarely purchases scratch tickets, but she had won some smaller prizes on lotto games. She saw the Pinball scratch game on the lottery's Lottery In Motion (LIM) monitor and decided to try it.

"I asked the cashier about it and he told me it was a scratch ticket," she said. "I used to like to play Pinball so I tried it."

Spearman, who is from Morning Sun, claimed her prize May 1 at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

"I had no idea how to claim this prize, so I went into Casey's and asked them if they had a claim form or something," Spearman said. "They gave me a number for this office so I called and asked for directions."

Spearman purchased her winning ticket at Casey's, 618 S. Church St. in Morning Sun. She said she plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills, as well as build a deck on her house.
