Cedar Falls Man Says It's Difficult To Focus After Winning A $10,000 Lottery Prize

Bryan Scheve Wins Top Prize Playing "Pinball" Scratch Game

DES MOINES, Iowa - A Cedar Falls man said it was difficult to go back to work after he discovered he'd won a top prize of $10,000 playing the "Pinball" instant-scratch game while on break.

Bryan Scheve, 27, decided to finally scratch his Pinball ticket that he'd purchased while on break in his car.

"I called my girlfriend and my parents," Scheve said. "My girlfriend didn't believe me, so she had to drive in to see it."

Scheve used the ticket self-checker at Hy-Vee Gas, 6527 University Ave. in Cedar Falls where he purchased his ticket, to make sure he wasn't seeing things.

"It just made my whole night," Scheve said.

Scheve claimed his prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids before heading to work at his main job at Hawkeye Community College as an independent learning instructor.

"It's a ticket I just play occasionally and I just happened to buy it," Scheve said.

Scheve said he plans to take some time to decide what to do with his winnings.
