DES MOINES, Iowa - A Davenport woman was all alone when she discovered she'd won a top prize of $100,000 playing the lottery's "Did I Win?" instant-scratch ticket, so she couldn't wait to share the news.
Rhonda Carter, 46, said she rushed over to her parents' house to tell them about her discovery.
"They couldn't believe it even though I had the ticket for proof," Carter said. "They had to look at it a bunch of times like I did!"
Carter said she has also told her siblings about her big win, and everyone is very excited for her. She claimed her prize Monday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
"This is my favorite ticket," Carter said.
Carter, who works for Kraft Foods in Davenport, said she is planning to use some of her winnings to purchase a newer vehicle as well as help some others.
Carter purchased her winning ticket at Hawkeye Convenience Store, 6807 N.W. Blvd. in Davenport.
"I'd just like to say thank you to the Iowa Lottery!" she said.
