DES MOINES, Iowa - A Cresco woman said she double-checked her "Crossword" scratch ticket several times before she believed she'd won a top prize of $30,000.
Tina Sautter, 40, said she was home with her boyfriend and her seven children when she discovered the win, and she couldn't wait to have it validated.
"We had to see if we were reading it right," Sautter said. "The first thing we did was go back to Casey's right away to have it checked."
Sautter, who is a stay-at-home mom, took her ticket back to Casey's, 601 Second Ave. S.W. in Cresco to have it validated.
"It was exciting," Sautter said. "I just took in two kids who aren't mine to give them what they need, so this came at a great time."
Sautter said she's planning to use some of her winnings to pay bills as well as take a vacation with her children.
"It's a very big blessing. I'm planning to give some to the food pantry too," she said. "Even though I win I like to give in return."
Sautter claimed her prize Tuesday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Mason City.Return to top↑
